The Pursuit Of Happiness And Peace

What is  happiness?  How do you get more of it?  One way is to add peace to your life.

Peace? What with the problems every day we see in the world on the news, and with the struggle to stay ahead, and the anxiety and stress we have to deal with due to the circumstances of our lives, peace seems like it is rarely available to us.

Yet precisely for these reasons peace is such a valuable thing to feel in our lives. A little peace can go a long way to reducing struggle and worry in our lives. It can add tremendously to the quality of our lives. It can make a difference in our well being and reduce stress and anxiety.

One of the things you can learn to do is give yourself peace. Instead of wait for it, instead of hope for it, you can actually give it to yourself regularly. You don't have to wait for the circumstances of your life to line up just right so you can relax and feel peace.

Giving yourself peace is simple. One way we'll focus on now takes just three to five minutes a day. On your own journey of self growth can you give yourself three minutes a day to harness the power of peace in your life?

This is the simple practice, often called "peacefully remaining." For 3 minutes you sit quietly and simply "peacefully remain" with whatever shows up in your consciousness. You can do this at home, in your car before getting out to go to an appointment, you can do it at lunch at work. Whenever.

For these 3 minutes, you allow or remain peacefully with ANY thoughts you are having. You don't try to change them or resist them. You allow whatever feelings and emotions you are having as well. You just notice them and allow them. No trying to make them different. Whatever arises in your awareness you aim to allow it to be there without struggling or resistance.

As a general rule, we human beings are unconsciously at war with what is. We are usually trying to resist or change our experience. We struggle with our thoughts and emotions, trying to have good ones and get rid of bad ones. For 3 minutes, you simply practice allowing things to be the way they are. You just breathe and notice and let things be okay just as they arise in your.

Give yourself a few minutes of peace a day and see what happens. If you want to make the world a more peaceful place, start with yourself.
