Breakthroughs In The Pursuit Of Happiness
What is happiness? How do you
get more of it? One way is to learn to have more breakthroughs in your life.
Creating breakthroughs in life is great.
We've all had breakthroughs, and they feel great. A problem is bothering us,
we are worrying about it, we are working at it, and then there is
breakthrough and we feel great. Or we are in a rut or routine and life is
getting stale. This too we worry over. Then there is a breakthrough to a new
job or new relationship and we are on cloud nine.
There are techniques for creating breakthroughs in our lives. One is so
simple it is often overlooked. Start by acknowledging the breakdown.
Acknowledge where you are stuck or not winning in some area. Tell it like it
is to yourself.
So if you are feeling stale, like your life is in a rut or routine that is
not very enlivening, that is a breakdown. But instead of blaming your
significant other or your job, and instead of bitching and complaining at
bars about your life, you can just acknowledge the breakdown.
If you are unhappy in your relationship, admitting what the issues are
frankly, without blaming, is a great start to fixing them. Once you've
acknowledged a breakdown, you can focus more clearly on dealing with it.
You'll be surprised how well this works.
Try this out for yourself right now. Where in your life are you unhappy?
Where are you stuck and not getting what you need?
Another way to create breakthroughs in life is to ask yourself this one
simple but potent question: What shouldn't be the way it is in my life? This
questions will bottom line the issues and clarify any areas for potential
breakthroughs.
When you can ask yourself that question, you will start to get a list of
answers. All of the answers are clues to breakdowns and potential
breakthroughs. My job should be more exciting. I should have more money. If
those are your first answers to that question, then you now have possibility
and potential. You have acknowledged the breakdown. You have admitted a
problem.
Now you can focus. Now you can see if you want to go to work on the issue.
Now you can get advice or perspectives from friends. Now you can set
yourself up for a breakthrough. There's more to this, but this is a good
start.
Pursuit of Happiness Action Steps:
Ask yourself where in your life you are
having breakdowns. Look at the areas of spirituality, socially, and
financially to start.
What in your life are you saying should not
be the way that it is?
One way to create breakthroughs is to start
by acknowledging what you think isn't working.
